Giovanni Vepkhvadze was born on March 13, 1949 in Tbilisi, in the family of the artist Alexei Vepkhvadze. In 1967 he entered the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Faculty of Painting, from which he graduated in 1973. Thesis work - "In the workshop of Bek Opizari" under the guidance of the famous Georgian artist Koki Makharadze.

In 1973, he was enrolled in the Creative Painting Workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts under the leadership of People's Artist of the USSR Ucha Japaridze, from which he graduated in 1977 with the reporting work "Restoration of the Gelati Temple."

Since 1973, he took an active part in both Republican and All-Union and international exhibitions.
Since 1977, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, of which he considers himself a member to this day.

Giovanni's work presents different genres, such as landscapes, portraits, thematic paintings, still lifes, and cityscapes.
From 1981 to 2007 he taught at the Tbilisi Art School. Ya. Nikoladze.

Went on creative business trips to Germany and Italy.

The works are stored in many countries, such as: Georgia, Russia, Germany, USA, England, Armenia, France, Japan, Italy, Greece, Turkey, India, China, etc.
