Playful Norwegian Pin-Up by Illustrator Henning Ludvigsen (25 Photos)
Pin-up is considered a truly American art form. Yes, this style originated in the United States, and most of the most famous pin-up artists are Americans. But that doesn't mean other countries don't understand the art of sexy beauties. Don't believe that pin-up is long dead and gone. Norwegian Henning Ludvigsen is a world-renowned creator of pin-up illustrations and, what's more, a contemporary of ours.
No one is born a pin-up artist. Henning Ludvigsen also didn't plan to become a modern pillar of this forgotten art movement. He was born in 1975 in Holmestrand, Norway. As a child, Henning witnessed many iconic moments. He witnessed the peak of superhero comic book popularity, the emergence of the first video games, and the dawn of digital advertising.
The artist has been working in advertising and board game design since 2005 and is quite well-known in his field. Ludvigsen became interested in pin-up art by chance, when, as a freelance artist, he was commissioned for a large project in this style. After completing it, Henning realized he needed to continue developing in this direction. Suddenly, he discovered there were plenty of pin-up enthusiasts and commissions available.
Currently, Ludvigsen is the only known pin-up artist in Norway and, they say, the best among the best in Europe. He continues to create board games and collaborates with video game studios and advertising agencies. And when he gets a commission featuring vintage girls, he's especially pleased.
