The most realistic paintings (8 photos)
Hélène Apel's paintings are very simple in essence. They often depict ordinary objects or things life-size, but painted with stunning precision. The raw linen canvas only enhances the sense that we are not looking at a flat image, but at a real object. Hélène Apel uses various techniques in her paintings, choosing them depending on the subject being depicted. For example, for meat, she chooses wax: it conveys density and shine well. For puddles, she uses highly diluted acrylic and watercolor.
According to the artist herself, her goal is not simply to deceive the viewer, but to convey the very presence of the object. Once on canvas, these objects are isolated from the outside world, allowing us to appreciate the aesthetic appeal of even the most banal, and sometimes even unpleasant, objects.
