Illustrations with cats, inspired by famous paintings (17 photos)
Artist Effy Zhang from Beijing created a series of illustrations in which she depicted the heroes of famous paintings in the form of cats and cats.
Chinese artist Effie Zhang loves art and cats. And, having decided to combine what she loves into one whole, she redrew the famous paintings, but with one feature - the artist turned the main characters in them into cats. The paintings came out quite recognizable, but with a special fluffy-purring accent. Effie Zhang took on not only popular works like “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” but also much lesser-known works of art in pop culture.

"Drowning Girl" by Roy Lichtenstein
The cat's reimagining of the painting reads: “I don't care! I would rather drown than call Effie for help!” In the original painting, the girl does not want to call a certain Brad for help, so here the artist made a reference to herself.
"Las Meninas" by Diego Velazquez
The original painting depicts the scene of a joint portrait of the Spanish king Philip IV with his wife and niece Marianne of Austria in the presence of their daughter Margaret Teresa and her retinue. Effie Zhang decided to turn the royal daughter Margarita Teresa into a cat.
