Maurice Leloir (Maurice Leloir, sometimes in Russian his surname is written as Leloy) was born in Paris on November 1, 1851. He received his professional education in the family: he was taught by his father, the painter Jean-Baptiste Auguste Leloir (1809–1892), and his mother, the watercolorist Héloïse Colin (1820–1874). Leloir clearly distinguished himself in many fields of art - as a painter, watercolorist, engraver, book illustrator, theater and film artist, and a talented writer.
