Vadim Alekseevich Gorbatov (1940) is one of the leading Russian animal artists, painter, graphic artist, and book artist. His work is dedicated to the animal world and the problems of coexistence between humans and wildlife.

The authenticity and persuasiveness of the artist’s works are the result of personal impressions and hundreds of full-scale sketches. He rafted down tundra rivers with hunters, zoologists, and cameramen, spent the night by a taiga fire, drove around the steppes and deserts by car, and visited a variety of natural areas, from the polar tundra of Siberia and Alaska to the tropical forests of India and Ecuador. The name of V. Gorbatov is well known not only in our country, but also abroad. He is a participant in international art exhibitions, articles about his work have been published in foreign magazines, his works are included in the books “300 Years of Animal Art” and “Modern Animal Art”, published in the UK. V. Gorbatov is a regular participant in international projects of the famous Dutch foundation "Artists for Nature". He is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the Society of Wildlife Artists in Great Britain. Works by V. Gorbatov are kept in galleries, museums and private collections in many countries around the world
