In the small village of Pernaja, Finland, lives the world-famous illustrator Inge Look. She created more than 300 drawings, about half of which were on the theme of Christmas. Inge Look was born in Helsinki in 1951. After graduating from high school, she received an education as a landscape designer, and in 1979 she graduated from the University of the Arts and the educational center for graphic designer. Inge Look is the artist's pseudonym, real name Ingeborg Lievonen. "I would like people to stop sometimes, and not rush around headlong. So that they can be happy with what they have. It seems to me that one of the holy truths of life is living in the present moment. I myself always fight for so that the value of the current second is remembered."
As a child, Inge lived with her family in one of the 7-storey buildings in Helsinki. Next door to them lived two elderly women (Alli and Fifi), who later became the prototype of the real “Finnish grandmothers”. Inge admits that although the fictional characters look very similar to her former neighbors, they are much more fun!
In life, Inge is full of optimism and joy, which undoubtedly shines through in her work. “Finnish grandmas” are always happy and have fun “to the fullest” with their motto: “Time is not money, and spending it is not a vice.” The first drawing of grandmothers appeared in 2003, now there are about 40 of them.
