The great passion of the artist Rolf Jonas Lidberg (1930 - 2005) was botany, especially orchids and mushrooms. He was one of the founders of the Sundsvalls mycological society. He traveled extensively throughout Europe to study and draw plants, and spent a long time in Sicily, where he became an honorary citizen of the city of Geraci. He also made some television shows called - "Walking in Tenerife". Rolf Jonas is known around the world for his heartfelt illustrations. Rolf Lidberg is very similar to the hero of his illustrations - he himself was a hunchback, with a large beard, and often walked around whistling. So their illustrations are called self-portraits.
