Australian illustrator Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888 - 1960), also known as Ida Sherbourne Rentoul and Ida Sherbourne Outhwaite. Her illustrations mainly depict the magical world of fairies and elves in Australia. Ida Rentoul worked primarily with pen and ink and watercolor.
Ida Rentoul's first illustration was published in 1904, when she was just 15 years old - the drawing accompanied a story written by her older sister, Anna Rattray Rentoul. In subsequent years, the sisters collaborated on a number of stories. After her marriage to Grenbry Outhwaite in 1909, Ida Rentoul also collaborated with her husband on The Enchanted Forest (1921), The Little Fairy Sister (1923) and Fairyland (1926). On a number of occasions, her children - Robert, Anne, Wendy and William - served as models for her illustrations.
