Nisse (“nisse” in Norway and Denmark, “tomte” in Sweden) is a little old brownie with a beard, wearing gray pants, a jacket and old-fashioned shoes. Despite his small stature, he has enormous strength. Even though the nissi is a caring protector of the home, he is very vindictive. At the slightest insult, his retribution is great - from damage to livestock to the destruction of the entire farm. If desired, he becomes invisible, loves dusty attics and cupboards, and is friends with pets. Nisse's favorite treat is sweet oatmeal with a piece of butter.
