Vida Gabor is a Hungarian painter, master of genre compositions. Most of Vida Gabor's paintings are inspired by his interest in the world and culture of Old Europe. The artist lures the viewer into his world, where reality is inextricably linked with fantasy. The artist’s favorite motif is night or evening scenes.
The artist was born on January 24, 1937 in Budapest. His mother was an opera singer and member of the Royal Hungarian Opera, his father was an architect.
In 1947, his parents noticed that Vida Gabor was able to accurately reproduce classical music on the flute based on hearing alone. He was considered a child prodigy and was accepted into the “Ferenc Liszt music academy.” There he was a student of Professor Ferenc Hochstrasser. He gave many concerts as a soloist with the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra in Hungary and in many European countries. In 1950, he began to draw at the same time.
In 1961, Vida Gabor left his flute professorship, to which he had devoted 16 years of his life.
In 1974, he made the animated film “Tom Thumb” for Mafilm. He was also involved in sculpture, jewelry making and restoration of antique watches.
In 1977, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting. He prefers the 40 x 50 cm format for his paintings. He carefully prepares his canvases and has developed his own unique style, painting without a visible brush mark
Today, Vida Gabor's works are of increased interest to collectors in Europe and America. The artist's works are in the Gallerie Amsterdam in Carmel (California) and in private collections.
