Nina Alekseevna Noskovich [Lekarenko] (1911-1995) - Leningrad artist, a prominent representative of the Leningrad school of book graphics, author of illustrations for more than 100 children's books. Years of study at the graphic faculty of the Academy of Arts and the Polygraphic Art and Technical Institute in Moscow, the first publications in children's magazines "Chizh", "Pioneer" and others determined the creative destiny of the aspiring artist. In 1935, the first book illustrated by Nina Alekseevna, K. Chukovsky, “Fedorino’s Mountain”, was published by the publishing house “Detgiz”, where she worked for several years under the leadership of V.V. Lebedeva. A young, talented artist, full of vitality and creative strength, will lose everything overnight: her husband, her 6-year-old daughter, her calling. The tragic events of 1937 - arrest, exile to Siberia as a member of the family of a traitor to the Motherland interrupted the artist’s creative biography for a decade. To the work of N.A. Noskovich would return only at the end of the 1940s, working on orders from the publishing houses Uchpedgiz, Medgiz and Muzfond. From the 1950s to the 1990s, the artist illustrated the works of G.H. Andersen, Brothers Grimm, A. Kopish; A.S. Pushkina, L.N. Tolstoy, V.I. Zhukovsky; E. Vereiskaya, V. Dragunsky, S. Marshak, S. Mikhalkov and many other writers in the largest publishing houses of Leningrad, Moscow, Petrozavodsk, Izhevsk.
Several generations of young readers who do not yet know how to read will comprehend the world of fairy tales, admiring Nina Alekseevna’s bright colored watercolors or monochrome drawings, masterfully executed in ink and pen.
