Carl Brenders is the most famous Belgian animal artist. Carl Brenders creates such realistic paintings that, without knowing about the pictorial origin of the images, you will think that you are seeing the work of an animal photographer, and not an artist. However, Karl first creates a pencil sketch, and then creates a mixed media drawing using gouache and watercolor. The result is beautiful portraits and genre scenes from the life of animals.
Karl Brenders was born near Antwerp, Belgium. Karl has been drawing since childhood. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and then in Berchem, Belgium. He created wildlife illustrations for more than 20 books in a series called The Secret Lives of Animals. Brandes' paintings have been exhibited at the prestigious Lee Yockey Woodson Art Museum, Birds in Art.
Brendes enjoys international recognition. He is widely known in North America, France, Spain, Holland and his native Belgium. Carl says: "Nature is already beautiful, already perfect. That's why I paint with so much detail and so much realism. I want to capture that perfection."
