ARTIST CHARLES VYSOTSKY
Charles Wysocki was born in 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. From infancy he wanted to become an artist. His father Charles is an immigrant from Poland who worked on the Ford Motor Co. assembly line. For more than 35 years I was not happy with my son’s desire to draw. He found much more understanding from his mother Maria. She fully supported his artistic aspirations. Charles attended Cass Technical High School, focusing on their arts program. From time to time he worked as an apprentice in Detroit art studios, where one day he was noticed.
After graduating with a degree in Design and Advertising, Charles was hired as an independent artist by McNamera Brothers in Detroit in 1955. In 1959, Charles moved to Los Angeles. There he created an advertising agency with three other artists (“Group West”), it became very profitable and brought fame to his work, and during this time Charles won many awards for his work in advertising. He then met his future wife, namely she awakened the artist in him, who seemed to have been buried in him for a long time.
His family lived in the San Fernando Valley. Charles simply fell in love with the simple life on the farm. This was a turning point for Charles. This began the primitive style, thanks to which he became a famous and recognized artist.
