The central themes in Shu Ikeda's work are nature and light. Cutting patterns in photographs of natural landscapes. Each painting is carefully cut out from a photograph using a paper cutter and mounted onto clear acrylic, allowing light to filter through the model's cutout. This is how the artist expresses the fragility of the beauty of nature, its changes over time. An ordinary landscape becomes exceptional, which does not exist in the real world, this is a new world of art that cannot be found only in painting or photography. Each piece of work is a unique creation of delicate handcraft. Shu Ikeda was born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1979. Graduated from Zokei University in Tokyo, Faculty of Painting. He currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.
