Francisco Javier Parcerisa (1803-1876) - Spanish artist, graphic artist, lithographer.

His gaze was drawn to the architecture, monuments, cityscapes, and traditions of Spain, and he was especially inspired by Barcelona. The author's most famous and beautiful works are reflected in 588 lithographs and drawings, with comments from the most famous writers and poets - the artist's contemporaries.
Parcerisa was educated in Barcelona. He eventually became a member of the Royal Society for the Preservation of Monuments and Heritage, and a corresponding member of the Academy of Fine Arts.

The author's graphic works, done in pencil, inspired other artists of that time to create an album dedicated to Spain. The book began to be published as a multi-volume set in 1839. The finished works were collected into 11 editions. The author owns 9 volumes from the published series, he will not have enough support and conditions to finish the encyclopedia, and he will not be destined to complete the work he started. Nine years after his death, the text will be compiled again and the content updated.

In 1884 the series would be reprinted with the participation of other authors, but undoubtedly the lack of inspiration and talent of Parcerisa would be obvious...
