Looking at these walls for the first time, you will think that there were a couple of natural disasters that destroyed the structure of the building and damaged not only the painting, whitewashing and finishing, but also the structure itself. Or make you happy - everything that you see in these images is the result of the work not of a natural element, but of an artist.

The paintings that are misleading many people were created by John Pugh, who specializes in an art form called Trompe L'Oeil - or "optical illusion". He deceives the viewer with three-dimensional scenes painted on a flat surface.

The larger the work of art, the larger the audience with which the creator can communicate using the language of art. So says artist John Pugh, each of whose works occupies one or even two walls of not the smallest building.

"Wow! Did you see this? I thought this all existed in reality” is what people say when they notice the work of the Californian impressionist artist. He works in public and residential areas and his paintings can be seen all over the world from New Zealand to Hawaii. His appearances never pass without a huge number of funny stories.

This master of wall painting is a very unusual person in himself. For starters, his art studio is high in the Santa Cruz Mountains, south of San Francisco and west of San Jose. Perhaps that is why John Pugh’s frescoes are cramped in small areas, and that is why the artist creates on a grand scale, using every cell of his large and generous heart.

People don’t notice the catch until they get literally close to the picture. Sometimes they even try to talk to the image.

Pugh says: “They jumped out to rescue the children on the walls. They ran about 15 meters and only when they ran close to the wall did they realize what it was.”

Sometimes John uses not only people, but also animals in his stories. The mural was unveiled during the Global Conference in California.

John Pugh's work includes both corporate murals commissioned by large companies and those he created for competitions and exhibitions, private collections and just for fun.

He is currently working on a mural at a police station in California, as well as a relaxation center in Calgary, Canada.
