Children love animals, women love children and animals, and American-based oriental artist Caroline Young paints watercolors of them. Delicate paintings in the Chinese style on the finest Chinese silk are her signature “trick,” which is sought after by collectors and beauty connoisseurs from both hemispheres.
Initially, Caroline Young was interested in Japanese painting, but the work of the artist Lam Oi Char helped her return to her roots, which changed her life, worldview and painting technique. So Caroline thanks her mentor for her delicate watercolors on silk, created according to all the rules of classical Chinese painting of the “subtle style”.
The girl has a lot of amazing works, many of which have found their place in the Bowers Museum in the USA and in The Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. However, the series of paintings that we already mentioned at the beginning of the story is worth special attention. The series is called Zodiac, and consists of a whole collection of “zodiacs” of the Chinese calendar: monkey, rooster, tiger, pig, sheep, rat... Needless to say, next to each animal there is also a small Chinese child?
Renowned writer Larry V. Ledoux said this about Caroline's personality and work: "Her work is soft, subtle and balanced. Simply stunning. They speak to our hearts, helping them to feel the beauty, to be imbued with a love of history, a love of the culture that the people who lived created before us".
