Yitao Liu was born in 1955 in Puer County of Yunnan. In 1997, Yitao Liu was awarded the title of "One of China's 100 Most Outstanding Artists" by the Chinese Literary and Art Association; and was also awarded the title of "Outstanding Chinese Artist" by the Research Center for Culture and Art in Hong Kong in 1998. Yitao Liu is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and a professional artist of KIB. Yitao Liu received the Excellent Work Prize at the 6th National Art Exhibition in Beijing in 1984 and the Bronze Medal at the 7th Exhibition in 1989.
Yitao Liu medals from the Chinese Artists Association: prize for excellent work in the Zhonghua Cup Chinese Painting Competition, Golden Fork prize at the first contemporary art exhibition in Beijing in 1988, 3rd prize at the national popular art exhibition "My Beautiful China, I love you" in 1990, the medal of Hundred Outstanding Artists in Beijing in 1997, etc.
