BARABASH (Barabas), Miklos Miklos Barabash (February 10, 1810 in Mărcuşa, currently Romania - February 12, 1898 in Budapest) is a Hungarian artist.

He began painting portraits at a young age. In 1829 he studied briefly in Vienna with Ender. In 1830 in Kolozvar he mastered the art of lithography. Having moved to Bucharest in 1831, he became a fashionable portrait painter. In 1834-1835 he made a trip to Italy, where he copied paintings by old masters. After that he lived mainly in Budapest. In 1836 he was elected a member of the Hungarian Academy. He did a lot to transform Pest into a cultural center. Author of portraits of most of the figures of the Revolution of 1848: Kossuta, Petofi, Bema. The portrait of Franz Liszt is considered one of his masterpieces. In total, he created about 3,000 portraits, among which a significant place (about 100) is occupied by portraits of major Hungarian actors. In 1862 he was elected president of the Academy, and in 1867 - a deputy of the Pest parliament.
