The function of the ladder is one and only - to help us overcome spaces vertically, from level to level. But a person would not be himself if he had not brought variety to this detail of the interior, if he had not enriched it with his imagination.
All the spiral staircases were built due to the cramped conditions. Except for those masterpieces that should and can be installed even in royal palaces.
But the historical origin of spiral staircases is fortresses and castles, along the towers of which these narrow and steep steps wound.
Medieval buildings that took place in the urban space, limited by the fortress wall, consisted of narrow houses stretching over two and three floors in which it was possible to install only a spiral staircase.
Today, such designs are sold ready-made (albeit disassembled) and are ordered in a single copy of an exclusive high-class design.
